AVATAR Sequel Continues Filming In Virus-Free New Zealand
AVATAR CONTINUES FILMING – The sequel to James Cameron’s AVATAR is going to resume filming in New Zealand after the country rid itself of their coronavirus epidemic.
As such, New Zealand locals would have hundreds of jobs and racking in millions. According to a report from Reuters, James Cameron, along with his crew were given special permission to travel to New Zealand two weeks ago.
During their stay in New Zealand, the crew was filmed by local media outlet, 1News. In the interview, Avatar’s producer Jon Landau stated:
This one product alone is going to hire 400 New Zealanders to work on it.
We’re going to spend, in the next five months alone, over $70 million here.
Filming for Cameron’s sequel to his block-buster sci-fi epic was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Luckily, because of New Zealand’s efforts, the crew could begin production of their film after the country announced its freedom from the deadly disease.
However, some locals said that Cameron and his crew were given special treatment. When they were allowed entry in the country, the travel restriction had yet to be lifted. Along with this, reports said that they were allowed filming while businesses run with a skeletal workforce.
Meanwhile, Avatar was just one of the many projects to be worked on in New Zealand. The country hopes to bring in more film business as they won against the coronavirus campaign.
The opportunities are immense
