UP Visayas Website Down After Getting Deface by Hackers
University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas website has temporarily taken down after being attacked by hackers, Thursday.
In a Facebook post of the university, they temporarily have taken down their webserver after receiving reports that there was a defacement from the website. They assured that the technical team is addressing the problem, said by the administrator.
“We have temporarily taken down our webserver after receiving and verifying the information that there was a defacement of the UPV website,” said UP Visayas in a statement.
“The technical team is now doing a security audit of all our systems and is taking the necessary steps to ensure that no further harm will be done,” it also said. “They are also proceeding to fix the affected system.”
Earlier, the website of Far Eastern University (FEU) was also attacked by hackers. Administrator trembles as many important accounts such as personal accounts and bank information were at risk of being ransacked by hackers.
Before the FEU hacking incident, the Twitter account was hacked by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) customer service, Thursday, May 28, 2020. The hacker renamed the account “PLDT_Cares” and made it “PLDT Doesn’t Care.”
