Vietnam Eyes Resuming Flights To Countries Without New COVID Cases
VIETNAM EYES RESUMING FLIGHTS – After Vietnam’s outstanding handling of the coronavirus epidemic, they now plan to resume flights to and from other coronavirus free countries.
According to Vietnam’s state media, the Prime Minister stated that they would give priority to countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Cambodia. However, it was not yet stated if inbound travelers from these areas would be subject to quarantine.
Vietnam had successfully contained the virus outbreak with merely 332 reported cases and no deaths. This was attributed to their quick initiatives in containing the virus. As such, more than tens of thousands of inbound travelers were placed in isolation.
Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated:
Vietnam is looking to resume international flights with countries that have registered no new COVID-19 cases in 30 days but the resumption needs to be extremely cautious considering the complexity of the pandemic
Moreover, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control was asked to draft a list of “safe” countries. But, he did not disclose if the other countries have been consulted.
Currently, Vietnam had no new local cases. As per the article, Vietnam recorded 3 new imported COVID-19 cases and had gone 54 days without any new local infections.
Another country that had no new local transmissions was New Zealand. The country has reported that all coronavirus cases have been eliminated and had zero patients remaining.
