Bacolod-Silay Airport To Reopen On June 8 (Monday)
BACOLOD-SILAY AIRPORT – Commercial flights are set to operate on June 8 at the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
This followed after local officials ease travel restrictions that were previously implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19, according to Panay News.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said that commercial flights from Manila to Negros Occidental will resume on June 8.
Lacson added that the provincial government had talked with airline firm representatives about imposing stricter health protocols at the airport, again, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Furthermore, the airport will be packed with thermal scanners that measure body temperature in order to help detect people infected with COVID-19.
Among the symptoms brought by the disease was fever that, as of the moment, infected three persons in the province.
Passengers are also required to undergo mandatory real time-polymerase chain swab testing.
BAsed on the report, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said that they asked airlines to bring at around 1,000 passengers per week of the month of June, at least.
This aims to ensure that the swab specimens can be taken from all incoming passengers for COVID-19 testing.
“Aside from the swab testing, incoming passengers will have to pass through thermal scanners to ensure that they do not have fever and undergo physical screening for COVID-19 symptoms,”
