This is to prevent passengers to back ride on motorcycles, says Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, according to an article from ABS-CBN.

Año added that the installation of side cars will further make them observe physical distancing.

“Lagyan na lang ng sidecar ang motor puwede na niya isama ang kaniyang misis, ganun nalang po solution habang andiyan pa ang virus,”

The Interior Secretary also suggested to have a route allowing motorists of motorcycles with side cars to travel.

As per the report, the interior department reiterated that backriding on motorcycles, also known as “pag-aangkas” o “angkas” is still not allowed since it violates physical distancing.

The government is currently preparing transportation for new normal. They cannot afford to risk the public health of people, hence they do not allow certain things to be back to normal.
