This was despite the gradual ease of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) quarantine protocols in the capital Metro Manila, and the rest of the country, according to Inquirer.

Hours after the local airlines said that they will resume operations on Saturday, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) made an advisory telling them that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) haven’t approved local air travel routes yet for this week.

“Consequently, airlines are hereby advised to cancel their flights [for] June 1, 2020, and to stop selling tickets for [that] date,”

This was the statement from CAB Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla in the advisory, based on the report.

Among the said airlines who made the announcement was Philippine Airlines who did so after three months of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For its foreign travel, the airlines said that it limited its flights going to the following nations from June 1 to 30:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Guam
  • Vietnam
  • mainland China
  • Malaysia
  • Indonesia
  • Hong Kong
  • Taipei
  • Singapore
  • Japan
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Saudi Arabia

It added that it will resume domestic air travel on June 8.

Cebu Pacific, on the other hand, said that it will resume domestic flights on Tuesday, while its international travel will remain suspended till June 30,

Lastly, AirAsia said that it will gradually resume its domestic flights starting June 3.
