Avi Siwa was arrested for allegedly selling COVID-19 test kits online
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested former actress-model Avi Siwa for allegedly selling COVID-19 test kits online.
A few years back, Avi had a share of the spotlight in the entertainment industry. Just recently, her name surfaced again in various news sites but not because of anything connected to show business.
Based on the Twitter post of ABS-CBN News, Avi was arrested by NBI as it was alleged that she is an online seller of COVID-19 test kits. Chief of the NBI-IOD Ronald Aguto said that the public must be reminded that there is a prohibition when it comes to selling the test kits online.
In the statement from the Food and Drug Administration, acquiring the COVID-19 test kits should be through a prescription from a licensed physician from a licensed hospital, medical institution or pharmacy.
The FDA prohibits the online selling of test kits. In the Twitter post, ABS-CBN has included a screenshot of Avi’s May 11 FB post about the test kits.
Additionally, another FB account with her name also had this post on May 15 saying, “Good news – my 10,000 test kits are here!” Apparently, she is also selling other medical equipment.
Based on the report, Avi Siwa is also facing an estafa case for allegedly selling rice which she wasn’t able to deliver to her customers. Behind that these allegations against the former actress and model, she stands firm that she did not do anything wrong.
Avi denies these allegations against her.
