CIDG Receives 171 Complaints of Anomalies, Corruptions in Distribution of SAP

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has so far received 171 cases on alleged anomalies in the distribution of the SAP.

According to the report of Philippine News Agency (PNA), 307 complainants have filed the cases against 405 probable suspects on the anomalies of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), which includes barangay officials and corrupt individuals.

87 of the filed cases are still under investigation, 9 are ready for filing while 74 were already filed the charges in courts and one was endorsed to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). According to CIDG, the suspect are allegedly involved in the anomalies and corruption related to SAP.

Most of them are involved in manipulating the official of list of beneficiaries, where they include the names of relatives, friends and people who are paying them, which are not qualified for the assistance. Others are reported to be reducing and dividing the cash aid received.

“These subsidized aids, for many, ease their worries on where to get the money for their day-to-day needs. However, there are unscrupulous local government officials who took advantage of this program for their own benefit through their illegal schemes,” CIDG told PNA.

The CIDG filed cases for violations of RA 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), in relation to RA 11469 (Bayanihan to Heal as One Act) in Regions 1, 5, 7 and 9. Provincial Prosecutors of the aforementioned regions have already filed the case against their corrupt public servants.
