Over 700 Residents Swab Tested During Baclaran Calibrated Lockdown

BACLARAN – Starting from 6 AM Thursday until 12 AM on Saturday, Baclaran is on Calibrated Lockdown.

The areas affected by the lockdown are the following:

  • Bagong Sikat
  • Bagong Lipunan
  • Bagong Pagasa
  • Bagong Ilog, E. Rodriguez
  • Bagong Buhay
  • Bagong Silang Dimasalang Extension
  • Mabuhay

According to a report from ABS-CBN, the city’s health officer, Olga Virtusio said they aim to test 200 to 300 residents daily. Moreover, testing would be done in a facility erected in Baclaran Elementary School Central.

Additionally, those who would be tested were the people who had come in close contact with the 42 people who tested positive for COVID-19.

As per the report, Virtusio stated:

Iko-contact trace mo niyan ‘yong mga nakapaligid. So basically, a hundred or more na iko-contract trace namin for Baclaran. Target namin is 700 to 800 [tests] for Baclaran, pero baka hindi namin matapos sa dami

Furthermore, under the lockown, residents are not allowed to get out unless they are frontliners. Meanwhile, affected residents would be given food and water supplies by the local government.

Along with this, those who would undergo swab tests would be placed in isolation or be required to go into home quarantine for two weeks. Afterward, if found to be positive, they would be transferred to a medical facility.

According to Virtusio, the lockdown would greatly help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the affected barangays.

Even though Baclaran has the third highest number of COVID-19 cases, it is also the area with the densest population. Potentially, this could cause a critical spread of the virus among other communities.
