Man from Davao Was Forced to Hitch a Truck and Walk for Hours to Get Home

A poor man came from Davao City was forced to walk for hours and hitch a truck from Bulacan to Parañaque to get to his brother’s home.

It was May 15 since Alex Casal leaves Davao City. In Bulacan, he tried to apply for a job as a driver at a trucking company even though he knew that there is a community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

However, as yet to be received from his applied job, Alex was forced to visit his brother in Paranaque City first where he would stay for a while. To get to Paranaque, Alex rides in a truck of bananas and drop him to Paranaque City Hall.

Here he started walking to his brother’s house. In the interview with Mai Bermudez of Unang Balita, Tuesday, Alex said he had been walking for three hours and not eating overnight.

With the help of some volunteers, Alex reached the compound where his brother lived. Despite finally arrived at his destination, Alex was not allowed to enter his brother’s house immediately.

Barangay captain said he had to take a COVID-19 test and undergo quarantine for 14 days before he will be allowed to stay there. Alex was ready to follow the protocol.
