Rare White Bat Spotted in Samal, Davao del Norte Goes Viral Online
DAVAO DEL NORTE – a rare white bat was spotted hanging in the tree of San Remegio Samal, Davao del Norte earned various reactions online.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) lockdown did a great impact on the environment as it eases the rate of pollution in water and air since the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was imposed to contain the spread of the virus.
An unusual sight of wild animals roaming more freely as humans they usually avoid stay inside the home. Rare species are more likely to come out due to the better environment amid the pandemic.
Just like this rare white bat spotted in San Remegios, Samal, Davao del Norte. In a Facebook post of netizen Didi Gigi Senajonan, she shared photos of a white bat hanging from a tree.
Samal Island is infested with bats. In fact, here lies the Monfort Bat Cave Sanctuary, the so-called world’s largest colony of Geoffrey’s rousette fruit bats. However, according to the founder of Monfort Bat Cave and Conservation Foundation, Inc. Norma “Bat Mama” Monfort, another specie of the bats was spotted in San Remigio.
“Very rare ang albino and very fragile usually they die earlier pero ang akin matagal na,” ani Monfort sa isang ulat ng Sunstar Davao.
