NAIA Loses Estimated P1 Billion Revenue Amid Coronavirus Crisis Says MIAA
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) loses an estimated P1 billion in airport revenue since the lockdown has started due to COVID-19.
In a report of Inquirer, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Ed Monreal said Thursday, P1 billion in airport revenues were lost during the nearly 2-month Luzon-wide lockdown to the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to suspension of International flights in all airports, Monreal said airports is less than 10-percent operation, with at most 10 flights per days, which most of them are cargo flights.
Government suspended all incoming international flights until May 15, next week, Friday, as the authorities’ work on precautionary measures for the COVID-19. Monreal added that the airport operations for now is “wishful thinking”.
“Siguro po we have to build the passenger confidence in terms of traveling,” he said, adding that this could be achieved if Filipinos follow quarantine rules so that their areas will be free of COVID-19.
