DSWD is Confident that Distribution of COVID-19 Aid is Completed by Deadline

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is confident that LGUs will finish the distribution of COVID-19 aid by May 7.

DSWD Confident

Previously, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminded the local government units (LGUs) of the April deadline for the complete distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash assistance. However, due to irregularities in distributing, the deadline was moved to May 7.

Meanwhile, DSWD Director Irene Dumlao said 72.3 percent or over 13 million of the 18 million target beneficiaries already received the aid, she stated in Dobol B sa News TV interview.

“Buo po ang tiwala ng DSWD na ang mga local government units ay matatapos po nila ang kanilang pagsasagawa ng pay out,” Dumlao said.

According to the report, At least 556 local government units already finished the distribution of the government cash subsidy or the SAP on every household affected by the public health crisis.

This program aims to help poor Filipino families whose livelihoods were greatly affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The cash aid up to P16,000 will be given to 18 million low income families nationwide with P200 billion budget allocated.

All SAP beneficiaries will receive the up to P8,000 cash assistance for the first tranche of distribution. Dumlao added that LGUs can proceed to second tranche of distribution if they have already finish the first tranche.
