“I can promise you that I’ll be nice and if you want to see me we can talk. Na ubos na yung pagka suplado ko dahil sa COVID. The Covid humbled me. With the kind of response you gave and showed to the public, its a humbling experience also for me. Baka kailangan mo rin sila balang araw.”

Following this, Duterte said that he would be ready to talk and that he’d be “reasonable”. Furthermore, he apologized to the Ayalas and Manny Pangilinan for his hurting words last year.

“Forgive me because if you do not want to forgive me, I will undercut you and go directly to God. God, ayaw akong patawarin nitong si ano, magyawyaw ulit ako”

Previously, Duterte told the Ayalas “Nilaro niyo yung Pilipino sa pera… I will pursue this if this is only thing I can achieve in this administration”.

However, on March 11, Duterte emphasized that he would be willing to resolve their issues with the two main water concessionaires in the Philippines.

Pangilinan is the head of the Metro Pacific Group of Companies which includes Maynilad. Meanwhile, Fernando Zobel de Ayala is the chairman of the Manila Water board.

Following this, Manny V. Pangilinan thanked Duterte for his sincerity and kindness after his apology.
