WHAT IS A CHIKININI – There are several Filipino slang words we often use, however, not many know their translations or where the words came from.

In this article, we are going to learn about the origins and the translation of the slang word “Chikinini” or tsikinini.

What Is A Chikinini? - Filipino Slang Words Translations

A tsikinini is a kiss mark left on the skin. In English, it is called a “Hickey”. Often times you would hear people saying that their partner left them a chikinini that’s usually on the side of the neck.

The word is also a popular song from one of the Philippine’s greatest bands – Parokya Ni Edgar.

However, simply kissing a person isn’t going to produce a hickey. This is because a hickey appears when biting or sucking on a skin (not just kissing). Afterward, the skin is bruised caused by the suction as blood vessels bursts under your skin.

But, much like most slang words, its origins or how the word came to be remains unknown. Although the word still stuck and is continued to be used even at present times.
