Senator Binay reminded attaches to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Taiwan to defend the OFW woman who is currently facing possible deportation for criticizing President Rodrigo Duterte on social media.

In her Twitter page, she shared a news article from CNN about Taiwan’s Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) request to depose Filipino caregiver Elanel Egot Ordidor for allegedly making cyber libel against chief executive of the Philippines.

She said that the labor attaches should not become the new ‘Makapili’ in front of modern heroes and should assist Ordidor in her case. Makapili is a group of Filipinos hired by Japanese Imperial Army to catch guerillas fighting for the freedom of the Philippines.

“Paalala lang po sa mga labor attaches na kayo ang kanlungan at sandigan ng ating mga OFW. Wag maging Bagong Makapili sa harap ng mga bagong bayani,” Binay tweeted.

Earlier, DOLE announced that they already reached out to the employer of Ordidor about her statements against the President. They also expressed disappointment to the Filipina caregiver for not cooperating with DOLE.

Previously, the Filipino caregiver in Taiwan went viral after using social media to post “nasty and malevolent materials” against the Philippine President to cause hatred amid the coronavirus pandemic. She allegedly used social media accounts and joined a group “organized to discredit and malign the President and destabilize the government.”
