Nursing mothers in Quezon City to receive P2K cash assistance
P2K Cash Assistance – The local government unit of Quezon City is set to give P2,000 to lactating mothers during the extended enhanced community quarantine.
Amid the health crisis, the national and the local government have been doing necessary measures in order to help affected individuals due the ECQ. Through the social amelioration program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), financial assistance was given to poor families around the country.
Meanwhile, the LGUs have started also their own projects aiming also to provide cash assistance to more families. One example of this is the own SAP that the Pasig City government gave to the residents who were not included in DSWD’s SAP.
Based on the report from GMA News Online, Quezon City’s government is also set to provide cash aid for the “nutritionally-challenged” nursing mothers. Just recently, Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement that lactating mothers are now included in the expanded financial assistance program of the local government.
Through the said program, QC officials want to extend help to residents who are badly affected by the community quarantine due to he COVID-19 pandemic..
“Around 6,000 nursing mothers all over the city will start receiving P2,000 from the program, which we recently widened to cover more residents who need immediate help,” Mayor Belmonte said.
Her administration explained that P2.8-billion supplemental budget for 2020 of Quezon City, P600 million is allotted for the expansion of the “Kalingang QC” project.
This project aims to serve more vendors, solo parents, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and senior citizens who were not included in the previous financial assistance program.
Initially, the Quezon City government allotted P200 million budget for 100,000 residents. Those who were included as beneficiaries are the drivers, market vendors, and other daily wage earners. Based on the report, 42,898 residents in the city of stars already received P2K cash assistance from the local government.
