7 men arrested for drinking in public amid ECQ
7 Men Arrested – Police arrested seven men who were drinking in public using the money they got from the social amelioration program of the government amid the enhanced community quarantine.
The government has provided cash assistance to the poor amid the health crisis through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s SAP. Many Pinoys who are affected by the lockdown, especially those who are informal workers were able to benefit from the said program.
However, issues arose in line with this program that aims to help the less fortunate Pinoys amid the crisis. Reportedly, some people complained because the beneficiaries were not properly screened while some brought out their predicaments against this program on social media.
After the distribution, one of the issues that also arose was about how beneficiaries spent the money from SAP just like these 7 men who were arrested in Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon.
Based on the post from the Facebook Page of One Mindanao (GMA Regional TV), police arrested these men who were drinking in public, which is one of the prohibitions in ECQ protocol.
Reportedly, the authorities found out that these men used the money from the P6,000 they receive from SAP. In line with this, netizens expressed dismay upon learning what they did after receiving the cash assistance from DSWD.
