Man Arrested In Check-up point In Bacolod City For Firearms, Illegal Drugs
BACOLOD CITY – A man was arrested by the police in a check-up point in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental for illegal firearms and illegal drugs.
According to an article from SunStar, the suspect, identified as Rene Dequena, of Purok Kingfisher, Barangay 16 in the city, was arrested at the said check-up point at Zone 12, Barangay Handumanan.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico said that the officers manning the checkpoint in the said area flagged down Dequena who rode a motorcycle, to check his ECQ pass at around 10:30 PM.
Recovered from the suspect are a .357 revolver loaded with four live round. a small plastic sachet of illegal drugs, coin purse, drug paraphernalia, a wallet that contains ₱1,199 cash, cellphone, ECQ pass, and the motorcycle.
Dequena is also identified as a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
He is currently under the custody of Police Station 10 and will be charged for violating Republic Act (RA) No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2000.
The suspect will also be charged for violation of RA No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
As per the report, a total of 18 persons in the capital city of Negros Occidental were arrested by BCPO for violating curfew hours from 10 PM up to 4 AM.
They were arrested by officers of Police Station 2, 4, 8, and 10, Pico said, adding that they were given a warning and were released.
