Two Caught For Selling Overpriced Thermal Scanners In Tagbilaran City
TAGBILARAN CITY – Two people in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, were caught by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for selling overpriced thermal scanners.
According to Bohol Chronicles, the CIDG, in coordination with the Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), arrested the businesspeople, identified as Arecele Toston, aged 41, and Maximo Clapis, aged 39, both from Panglao via an entrapment operation, the police reported.
Toston and Clapis allegedly sold six thermal scanners worth ₱39,000 or ₱6,500 each, which is higher compared to the maximum ₱4,500 retail price that was set by DTI.
The local police added that they immediately caught the suspects after they handed over the thermal scanners to a police in disguise during an operation along Palma Street in Barangay Poblacion II.
As per the report, also recovered from the suspects were 20 boxes of disposable face masks.
They are currently under police custody and will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 7581, also known as the Price Act.
