Filipino Scientist Comments On Duterte Reward, Says Its Barely Enough

DUTERTE P10M REWARD – A Filipino scientist comments on President Rodrigo Duterte’s P10M reward for those who can cure COVID-19.

As such, a lot of Filipinos praised Duterte for his initiative in dealing with the virus. However, his announcement was lambasted by several netizens online.

Some netizens criticized Duterte for announcing a P10M reward rather than institutionalizing research funds. Likewise, a Filipino scientist shared his thoughts on comments regarding the reward from other netizens.

One of the most common comments seen was:
“Kaya nyu nga inaral yan. Ilabas niyo inaral niyo ngayon”.

In that regard, the scientist said:

Oo, nag aral kami tungkol jan, kaya alam namin na hindi basta basta yun. At saka may kanya kanya po specialization ang mga scientist, and we all respect each field.

Another comment was, “Kayo na bibigyan ng pera ayaw niyo pa? Hirap sainyo eh”. The scientist responded to the backhanded comment with:

Yung 10M, kulang pa yan sa materyales palang. Anong akala mo sa gagawin na research? Science project? Gustong gustong tumulong ng mga scientist pero saan kukuha ng gamit?

Eh sana kung nuon pa sinuportahan niyo na ng ayos ang Aghan at Teknolohiya, sana nakakalaban ng ayos mga Scientist natin.
