Manny Pacquiao will try to work out the ‘New Normal Law’
Senator Manny Pacquiao is planning to file a bill called “New Normal Law” that aims to be the basis of what people will follow even after the enhanced community quarantine.
Included in the protocol of ECQ due to COVID-19 is the physical distancing in public areas. However, some people, as this is not the normal situation, would still gather up, especially during the distribution of relief goods or buying in markets.
In line with this, Senator Pacquiao, based on the report from ABS-CBN News, is planning to file the ‘New Normal Law’ Bill. Under this bill, this will be the new normal things to do:
- Shoppers need to have a grocery list as the time for shopping is already limited.
- “Pre-buy” will be observed. People need to pre-order online the items they want to buy before getting it from the physical store.
- There will be dividers in food establishments.
- “On site” viewing will be available for events such as fights and concerts.
- There will be also modifications when it comes to watching live TV shows.
- Physical distancing will also be implemented in churches.
However, UP Cultural Anthropologist Dr. Nestor Castro said that this bill was not carefully studied. “Ang ugali, ang tradisyon, ay produkto ‘yan ng daan-daang taon at hindi nababago overnight,” he said. Several citizens also disagreed on this, especially those who don’t have internet access for buying commodities.
Meanwhile, fellow lawmakers of Senator Manny Pacquiao are in favor of suspending the lockdown in areas with no confirmed case or with low numbers of COVID-19 patients, based on the report.
