AKYAT-BAHAY – group of men reportedly stole food supply lasting for a month inside the house of a family in Butuan City, dawn Saturday.

Police in Butuan City have been chasing and now on a manhunt after eight (8) men who allegedly raided a house in Barangay Libertad early Saturday morning and took a month’s supply of food.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News, the thieves, wearing face masks, allegedly went up at the water tank to enter the unlocked door on the second floor of the house in Acosta Village.

The thieves entered the maid’s room but found nothing there. The housemaid also woke up and notice the thieves coming inside but pretended to be asleep so as not to be hurt.

Homeowner Jil Madel de Bord also woke up after being called by the maid. De Bord also advised his maid not to leave the room first to avoid being harmed by thieves.

Based on the report, when other burglars broke into the house, they helped swindle 40 kilograms of rice, cans, coffee, and soaps. Meat, fish, and other processed foods were also taken inside the fridge.

“Pang-isang buwang konsumo na sana namin ‘yong mga ninakaw dahil nga home quarantine,” said De Bord.

Meanwhile, Butuan police advised the public to practice locking all the doors of the house before going to bed to prevent thieves broke into their houses. On the other hand, crime incidents happening outside decreased since the enhanced community quarantine implemented.
