Woman In Tagbilaran City Arrested By NBI For Selling Overpriced Alcohol
TAGBILARAN CITY – Agents from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently arrested a woman in Tagbilaran City, Bohol for selling overpriced alcohol.
According to Bohol Chronicles, the woman, idenified as Marie Grace Lacaba, 30 years of age of San Miguel Bohol was arrested on Wednesday morning after she was reportedly selling a 70% isopropyl alcohol bottle for ₱280, which is twice the maximum retail price placed by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
NBI reports show that Lacaba was selling her overpriced alcohol bottle via social media. This caught the attention of the agency, who sent an undercover agent to apprehend the woman.
Lacaba is now imprisoned in a lock-up jail and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 7581, also known as the Price Act of the Philippines.
As per the report, she is, by far, the second person oto be caught by the bureau for the said violation.
The first one was caught for selling overpriced N95 masks. The bureau then warned the sellers and retailers against taking advantage of the pandemic by overpricing necessities,
The agency has been making operations against those who will do so despite the price freeze set by the DTI.
