Ambulance Driver Shot In Quezon Dedicated To Resume Work After Recovery

AMBULANCE DRIVER SHOT – Amid the coronavirus crisis, there seems to be discrimination and fear towards healthcare workers.

There have been several reports of frontliners being assaulted, mistreated, and shunned due to the nature of their work. Worse, an ambulance driver was even shot in Quezon.

According to an article from GMA, the ambulance driver was shot by a resident in Candelaria Quezon. Furthermore, he suffered hand injuries.

Additionally, the driver, known as Sofronio “Cefring” Ramilo stated that he almost lost one of his fingers. However, even with such a traumatizing experience, Ramilo is still determined to go back to work after recovery.

Similar reports have also happened outside of the country. In Spain, people of a certain village would stone ambulances who transport COVID-19 patients. Some would even hold protests against them.

Meanwhile, as per the article, Romilo said that a resident of the area was going to pull out a gun and pointed it at him. Afterward, he insisted that the ambulance should not be allowed to enter the subdivision.

The reason for this was because the shooter said the ambulance was being used to transport patients infected with COVID-19.

However, he added that he was saddened because of the incident because of the discrimination he got even though he was just doing his job.
