Hero Journalist Arnold Clavio Fights For Truth, Lauded By Netizens
ARNOLD CLAVIO – Amid the Philippines’ fight against COVID-19, the country also faces another opponent – dishonesty.
As the new coronavirus hit the Philippines, the government struggled in containing the virus. Currently, the country has over 4,000 reported cases of COVID-19 along with over 200 deaths.
However, these numbers may be a far-fetched according to an expose of veteran journalist Arnold Clavio. Previously, it was also Clavio that shed light on the VIP Testings for COVID-19 done by the DOH.
This time, Clavio exposed the truth behind the real number of deaths in the Philippines caused by COVID-19. Reports say that Clavio got information from an insider that the bodies of COVID-19 casualties are scattered along the hallway of a certain hospital in Metro Manila.
During this pandemic, the most important weapon we need to have against the virus is transparency and the truth. While government officials were hiding the truth, Clavio risked his career and reputation to uncover it.
Admittedly, being a whistle-blower in this regime may have catastrophic impacts on one’s career. But, with the people in mind, Clavio continued to step up when nobody else did.
As such, the journalist had gotten well-deserved praise from thousands of Filipinos for exposing the truth. However, upon hearing the news, the DOH quickly denied the claims of Clavio.
Meanwhile, some netizens also urged Clavio to disclose the name of the hospital to prevent panic. But due to the sensitive nature of the subject, I’m sure the journalist had his reasons for hiding it in the meantime.
