Ecuador Vice President Apologizes After Corpses Left on Streets

The Vice President of Ecuador apologizes after scores of bodies were left on the streets as the coronavirus disease struck the city.

Recently, the Vice President of Ecuador Mr. Otto Sonnenholzner has apologized after number of dead bodies were left the streets of Guayaquil as the dreadful coronavirus diease 2019 (COVID-19) sturck the port city.

According to the report of ABS-CBN, residents share some video and photos on social media showing abandoned bodies in the street in the Latin American city worst hit by the pandemic disease.

At least 150 corpses have been collected from the streets and homes by the authorities earlier this week. Based on the report, still not confirmed how many dead bodies are the victim of the infectious coronavirus disease.

“We have seen images that should never have happened and as your public servant, I apologise,” said Mr Sonnenholzer, who is heading the country’s virus response, in a statement broadcast by local media on Saturday (April 4).

Euador has recorded nearly 3,500 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of Sunday, including 172 deaths. The government has imposed a state of emergency and introduced a nightly curfew in an effort to contain the spread of the disease.
