Amid COVID-19 Lockdown In India, Violators Are Beaten With Bamboo Sticks

LOCKDOWN VIOLATORS BEATEN WITH BAMBOO STICKS – As a countermeasure against COVID-19, India was placed under lockdown.

As such, authorities became strict when it came to enforcing lockdown protocols. Amid the lockdown, residents were ordered to stay indoors. However, others still violated the rules.

Moreover, to instill discipline among residents, the police go as far as assaulting lockdown violators with bamboo sticks without warning. So long as you’re outside during the lockdown period, you’d be subject to attacks from the police.

In a video posted by A Current Affairs on Facebook, you could see motorists being beaten with bamboo sticks for violating quarantine laws.

According to reports, India’s authorities were terrified of the virus spreading in the country. This is due to India being one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

The violaters had no other choice but to run away from the assaulting police. There are no talks or proper procedures for dealing with violators, only a bamboo stick stinging your skin.

Because of their assaults, some motorists fall flat on the ground as they try to run-away. Others even hit a tree as they struggle to run away from the police.

In light of their actions, the police force of India has faced criticisms for their extensive measures. Moreover, some would say that what they’re doing is an abuse of their power.

Aside from the bamboo beatings, the police also have lighter measures such as forcing violators to do squats or push-ups.
