House Fire In Narra Town, Palawan Left With One Elderly Dead
NARRA TOWN – A nipa hut in Narra town in Palawan went in flames on Wednesday night, leving one elderly woman dead.
According to ABS-CBN, Annabel Medillen, Senior Fire officer from the local’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said that the bureau received an alarm past 7 PM in Sitio Mariwara, Barangay Princesa Urduja.
They immediately put out the fire upon reaching the incident, said Medillen, who added that they coordinated with the Philippine National Police, Philippine Marines, to reach the area, which is far away at the same night.
“Gumawa pa po kami ng coordination sa PNP (Philippine National Police), sa Philippine Marines para mapuntahan ‘yong area considering na malayo, at the same time gabi na po ‘yong tawag sa’min,”
Meanwhile, the neighbors attempted to extinguish the fire but they cannot save the elderly, who was 74 years of age and was living alone in her nipa hut.
As per the report, Medillen deduced that the source of the fire was the oil lamp she used, since there were no electric suppl in the said area.
