According to ABS-CBN News, diplomats, however, reported that the first ever videoconference meeting doesn’t have any technical issues.

This, which includes informal talks about the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s situation, was purposely a test run and was not among the roster on any official purpose.

There, all ambassadors and deputies logged in from their homes while it is inaccessible to the media.

One diplomat said in regards to the condition of anonymity that the meeting was a bit devised.

The said diplomat said that its much better to operate, even in situations that are at a bare minimum than not at all, adding that they regretted that the Council was more inactive since its previous meeting at their headquarters on March 12.

The meeting lasted for four hours and slipped in talks after the DR Congo discussion on how they can continue operating.

It faced technical difficulties as they face situations like when the internet connection went down or when some diplomats lost power in their households.

It was also held in English since the said technical issues made simultaneous translation into other official languages impossible.

As per the report, Russia was the only council member so far that rejected the idea of virtual votes, adding that they should do it physically.

Antonio Guterres, secretary general of United Nations, said that they did not close the doors kof the headquarters stationed in New York but said that the city is under a stay-at-home directive the state governor issued.
