On Wednesday morning, news about Pimentel surfaced stating that his COVID-19 test result was positive. Previously, Senator Migz Zubiri also tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The Senator through a Viber message shared that, “No baby yet [because] doctors aborted the procedure when I relayed to them the news I got last night.”
“I received the call from RITM [Research Institute of Tropical Medicine] when I was already [in the] hospital last night hence I left immediately,” the Senator added.
Senator Pimentel also asked prayers for his wife amid her isolation, especially that she is pregnant right now. “And siyempre being the wife of a COVID-positive, she’s under isolation, so kawawang-kawawa [I feel really bad for her], I mean imagine, eight plus months pregnant and under isolation pa,” he said in an interview.
As a husband and a father who is expecting the birth of his child, Pimentel said that he is hoping that the doctors would come up with a solution to give comfort to his wife. He hoped that his wife would not be discriminated since he is the one who tested positive.
“Sana…the hospital taking care of my wife will take good care of her, kasi magisa lang po siya doon, yun ang rule nila [she’s alone there and that’s their rule], we are following their rule,” the lawmaker said, based on the report.
