PNP Urges Cops To Arrest Disobedient PUV Drivers

PNP – The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged policemen to arrest disobedient PUV drivers and impound their vehicles, if necessary.

According to Inquirer, this is in lieu of the implemented enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to fight coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

PNP chief Archie Gamboa said that he made it highly specific to arrest the said disobedient drivers who are still operating and impound heir vehicles. This is in order for the public to see that they are serious.

“Sinabi ko kanina, highly specific na hulihin niyo lahat. Kung kailangan iimpound natin so that the people will see na really that we will enforce the law,”

Gamboa added that they will also require the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to issue an order that will be the reference in filing a case against drivers, operators of PUVs that ae caught travelling in the streets while the suspension order is n effect.

“The LTFRB should really come up with a clear order that all are suspended so that pag-na-apprehend, it is not only the ticket of the Land Transportation Office they are going to take. They are also going to take administrative charges on the part of their franchise,”

As per the report, the entire island group of Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine after the COVID-19 outbreak in the country which, as of the moment, is now at 142 cases and 12 fatalities.
