2 Vendors Arrested in Buy-bust Operation for Selling Overpriced Thermal Scanner

Two (2) vendors in Biñan, Laguna who sells overpriced thermal scanners and alcohols got arrested in a buy-bust operation.

In a report of Inquirer, two vendors named Sofia Loren, 27, and Melvin Loto, 37, both residents of Tawiran Street, Pasig City was arrested in an entrapment operation of local authorities for selling overpriced thermal scanners.

Entrapment operation takes place inside known food store in Barangay San Nicolas, March 16, Monday afternoon. 10 units of thermal scanners with 50,000 boodle money used in the operation.

The two will face charges according to the Republic Act 7394 or Consumer Act. Meanwhile, online vendors who sell sanitary essentials such as alcohol and other disinfectant twice the price of its suggested retail price will face possible arrest.

According to the report, the city government of Biñan in Laguna has offered P10,000 reward for the tipster who could help set uo a physical meetup with online vendors who sells overpriced items.

The buy-bust operation aims to halt the hoarding of alcohol, according to Biñan City Mayor Arman Dimaguila, Jr. He said anyone with information could coordinate with them to catch online sellers who overprice.

A civilian police officer will accompany the tipster to the operation. As much as possible, the meetup is either inside Biñan or in the neighbor city, the mayor said.
