Pinay Chemist to Give Free Alcohol to People Who Unable to Buy Amid Shortage
A kind-hearted Pinay chemist will give free ethyl alcohol to people who aren’t able to buy because of shortage due to panic buying.
Since the Department of Health (DOH) announced to the public about the confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country, fears ignite as people panic to buy medical supplies such as face masks and sanitary essentials.
Those medical items could be used to prevent being infected by coronavirus. However, amid panic buying there less fortunate people who aren’t to buy these sanitary essentials because of hoarders and bulk buyers while others do not have enough money to buy.
Recently, a kind-heart Pinay chemist named Meg Reyes-Sy has decided to give the free ethyl alcohol to anyone who cannot buy for themselves due to market shortages. In a Facebook post on March 13, Sy expressed her desire to help her fellow countrymen.
In her post, she said that she would be prioritizing the elderly or infants as well as those who have low immune systems and who cannot buy alcohol as of now. She furthered that she would only give out 250mL per person in order to meet the needs of a total of 100 people.
In able to avail the free alcohol, individuals should send their selfie in their household as proof. She also encouraged fellow Filipinos to pay it forward to any person who would need help in any way.
She also clarified herself that she is not doing this to gain attention instead she’s doing this “because it is the humane thing to do and I hope this random act of kindness can be an instrument for us to help each other in these hard times.”
