Two Faculty Members Of UP Declared As PUIs For COVID-19

COVID-19 – Two faculty members of the University of the Philippines (UP) have been declared as persons under investigation for COVID-19.

According to GMA, a report from the official website of the UP, the said two faculty members submitted themselves after attending an academic conference in Japan.

The UPHS (UP Diliman Health Service) was tho one declaring them PUIs after showing fever and respiratory symptoms.

Jesusa Catabui, director of UPHS assured the public that protocols were observed in isolating the patients and disinfecting the areas.

As per the report, Fidel Nemenzo, UP Diliman Chancellor earlier said that they suspended work, restricted official travel, cancelled on-campus events, and moved toward holding online classes.

“We remind the community that the most effective way of containing the spread of COVID-19 is social distancing, proper hygiene and behavioral etiquette,”

Meanwhile, in our earlier report, the first case of the virus in Mindanao, identified as a man 54 years of age, was admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

Oddly, the man did not have any known travel history.
