Little Girl Died After Getting Bit By Cobra In Davao City

DAVAO CITY – A girl, four years of age, died on Sunday (March 8) after she was bitten by a cobra in a cornfield in Davao City.

According to SunStar, the incident took place in Barangay Malagos, Baguio District in the city. The Baguio District Police Station identified the victim as Airezlyn Upla.

Airezlyn’s mother Arlen Upla, who is a resident of Purok 1-A, Sitio Macatabo, Barangay Carmen, Baguio District, reported to the cops that the incident occurred at around 11:30 AM on Sunday.

Arlen added that while they were harvesting at the cornfield, Airezlyn approached her an told her that she was bitten by a grayish-black snake, which was believed to be a King Cobra.

Argie Hermoginez, grandmother of Airezlyn, said that she heard her granddaughter yelling and crying while telling her she was bitten by a snake. Hermoginez went to check on her granddaughter.

Upon reaching the victim’s location, she saw the snake heading toward a road drainage.

As per the report, the child was taken to Isaac T. Robillo Hospital in Barangay Calinan but she succumbed to the venom. She was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
