23 People Monitored In Bacolod For Coronavirus Says Inter-Agency Task Force
23 MONITORED IN BACOLOD FOR CORONAVIRUS – The Philippines had seen increasing numbers of COVID-19 in the past days.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared a state of public health emergency in the Philippines over coronavirus. This was following the announcement of the first case of local transmission in the Philippines.
This time, 23 people from Bacolod City had been placed under monitoring for the new coronavirus. The announcement was made by the Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 during a press conference.
According to an article from Sun Star, Dr. Grace Tan, spokesperson for the Task Force said last week, only 20 people were under monitoring. However, there were an additional 3 three added to their list.
Currently, the Philippines had confirmed 24 cases of COVID-19. Yesterday, President Rodrigo Duterte announced 4 more patients added to the previous 20.
But, Tan said that none were tested positive for the virus in Bacolod. Additionally, Tan emphasized that Bacolod City and the whole Negros Occidental has no patients under investigation (PUIs).
As per the report, the 23 Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) are all under home quarantine. Additionally, all were residents of Bacolod City and had travel history in the following areas:
- South Korea
- Hong Kong
- China
- Morocco
- Singapore
- Malaysia
- Japan
- Thailand
All PUMs voluntarily informed the City Health Office that they had travel history abroad. However, Tan stated that some of them are asymptomatic.
These people are being monitored and we also ask their cooperation to avoid travel so that they will be contained if ever they develop a symptom
Tan said that the PUMs will undergo the standard 14-day quarantine. Meanwhile, some are already about to finish their isolation period.
She added that those who finished their quarantine would be given a certificate from the City Health Office.
