Cayetano Says ABS-CBN Franchise Issue Used To Oust Him From Leadership
CAYETANO ABS-CBN FRANCHISE ISSUE – House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano stated that the ABS-CBN franchise renewal is being used as a tool to oust him from as a speaker.
According to an article from Philstar, the House had been getting criticism from various sectors for its alleged slow pace in handling the 11 bills that seek to give ABS-CBN its franchise renewal.
In an interview, he told reporters that the moment the majority of Congress doesn’t want him, he’d leave. He added that the House had been monitoring many issues such as the budget.
Following this, he stated that the current ABS-CBN franchise renewal issue is being used to remove him from office.
However, Cayetano insisted that he won’t give in to pressure demanding him to immediately conduct the hearings on the franchise renewal. He added that he wanted to deal with them thoroughly.

As per the article, he emphasized that the franchise bills should not be a cause for concern. Cayetano stated that if they didn’t violate any laws then they would have their franchise renewed.
