Forest Fire Still Continue to Rage in Tublay, Benguet
Another forest fire is raging in the Cordillera mountains since Wednesday afternoon in Sitio Nalseb, Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet.
According to the report of ABS-CBN News, forest continued to blaze over parts of Barangay Ambassador in Tublay town in Benguet on Saturday morning. The fire started on February 20, around 2:30 p.m., according to a spot report by the Bureau of Fire Protection in Tublay.
Fire Officer 1 Richard Watas of the Tublay Bureau of Fire Protection said two of their firetrucks and one from the La Trinidad fire station were joined by villagers who trekked hours to the site of the blaze and tried to suppress the conflagration manually.
Firefighters have difficulties reaching the on fire parts of the mountain because it is dangerous and their fire trucks were unable to enter. Up to 20 hectares of pine forest in Sitio Nalseb, Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet.
The fire started in Barangay Adaoay and spread to Barangay Anchokey which was immediately extinguished, but it was again ignited by small fires. This time fire again broke out in Barangay Babalak, particularly in some parts of the popular Mt. Pulag.
Due to the rapid spread of fire, Benguet Electric Cooperative Inc. has announced a power interruption. Watas said they are yet to determine the cause of the fire.
