Windows phones lost their popularity because of the lack of diversity it had in contrast to the features of both IoS and Android. However, fans of the Windows Phone might see a big change to this soon.

In their Twitter, Emperion posted a teaser of a phone that runs Windows 10 on ARM (Arcom Risc Machines). This would be the first device of its kind and opens many opportunities for the mobile experience brought by Windows.

Following this, tech insider Jeremy Sinclair reached out to Emperion to get a little more detail about the device. According to Sinclair, Emperion refers to the phone as the “Nebulus”.

Here are some of the keynotes regarding the new Windows phone.

  • It’s Running Windows 10 on ARM
  • It Uses Emperion’s own UI
  • The processor is an overclocked Snapdragon 845 processor.
  • Has Microsoft’s help and support
  • The phone would be sold “SIM-FREE” through its website
  • Has plans to ship the device in the US.

In addition, the Nebulus would be able to desktop mode via USB-C or wireless. Along with this, Emperium had also specified that the Nebulus would be able to run Android apps. In a statement, they said:

We’ve included the ability to use Android apps from within windows without an emulator or having to switch between operating systems.

The Android App system will be native, we can’t say much more currently…”

With regard to its ability to make phone calls, Emperion stated that it would have native calling and SMS. Meanwhile, only one model of the device would be released.

According to an article from Windows Central, Emperion said that they felt that a flagship should remain so for the lifetime of the product in our range.

Lastly, users should take note that the Windows 10 on ARM would not have native telephony abilities. This means that we can’t be sure how it could actually be a “smartphone” in the traditional sense.

As per the article, they guessed that they would use Skype and LTE for calls and messages. But for now, there is still much to be known about how good the new Windows Phone from Emperion would be.
