According to an article from Channel News Asia, an armed gang who stole hundreds of toilet paper rolls were being hunted by the Hong Kong police.

As per the article, the police stated that a truck driver was held up early Monday by three men outside a supermarket in Mong Kok. This was a working-class district with a history of gang-related crimes.

Afterward, footage from NOW TV showed police investigators standing near multiple crates of toilet paper rolls outside a supermarket. However, one of the crates was only half stocked.

This led investigators to believe that the target of the gang was, in fact, toilet paper rolls.

The panic buying hysteria that has run rampant in Hong Kong was due to the coronavirus outbreak explosion in mainland China. In addition, Hong Kong had a terrible history of confronting deadly diseases like SARS.
