TALES AND FABLES – In this topic, we are going to know and discuss about the meaning of tales and fables and the elements of a tale.

Meaning
Basically, a tale is a short simple stories which makes or amuse a point.
A fable, on the other hand, is a special type of tale where animal characters behave and act like humans. These tales teaches a moral or a lesson about humans.
Tales are known to be the oldest form of literature as these can be seen in every culture all over the world. A fable is a good example of how its passed on for centuries.
Elements
There are two basic elements of a tale, namely:
- Characters
- These are people or animals (such is the case of fable) who took part in the tale’s action. In the case of animals, they often stand for human qualities like the cunning fox or the wise old turtle.
- Moral
- This is in the case of fables where they were showing the lesson of the story it shown. This is basically an easy way to teach kids a moral lesson: to entertain them with these stories and at the same time helping them realize what they have learned from it
