US President Trump Fine With Ending VFA, Says Move Saves US A Lot Of Money
TRUMP FINE WITH ENDING VFA – United States President Donald Trump said that he was more than fine with the Philippine ending the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).
Recently, DFA Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. signed the Visiting Forces Agreement notice of terminations and sent it to the United States.
Following this, US Defense Secretary Mark Esper stated that the decision of the Philippines to terminate the VFA was a “move in the wrong direction”. However, Trump had a different perspective.
According to a report from Philstar, Trump told reporters: “I never minded that very much, to be honest“.
Trump also noted that the Philippines and the US had a “very good relationship” when it came to military ties. He even cited how the US aided the Philippines in their fight in the battle of Marawi.
