Instagrammer Forces Emergency Landing After Doing nCoV Prank
An instagrammer forces a plane to make an emergency landing after joking that he could have the deadly coronavirus says he was trying to get a viral video.
In a report of Business Insider, a Canadian man, identified as James Potok an Instagram influencer, recently forced an emergency landing after jokingly announcing on a flight that he might have been infected with the deadly coronavirus.
Potok was arrested immediately after his prank attempt. He said he was trying to get a viral video and has apologized for interrupting passengers’ journeys.
Potok was aboard WestJet Flight 2702, a Toronto flight bound for Jamaica on Monday when he made his ill-conceived “prank.” It was about halfway there when the man reportedly stood up and told crew and 243 passengers he had coronavirus.
Potok announced to his fellow passengers that he had visited Hunan Province in China, where he thought the novel coronavirus had originated. The pilot radioed back and returned the flight to Toronto Pearson Airport.
The plane landed at around 2:10 p.m. and the man was assessed by medical staff and deemed symptom free. The prankster was then arrested for mischief and breach of recognizance.
He later then apologizes for the inconvenience he have made. Admitting that he did the prank in hopes of creating a viral video, Potok said he eventually realized that ruining the passengers’ flight was wrong.
