According to SunStar, he will be charged for illegal possession of firearms and violence against women. This also alarmed authorities, who warned men on using force against their female partners or any women at all.

Reports show that the incident occurred at about 3 PM, February 3. The man’s partner, whose name was undisclosed, went to Talomo Police Station to seek police assistance on the alleged violation of her partner of the Republic Act (RA) No. 9262 during their altercation.

The suspect allegedly was armed with a firearm inside the woman’s hous in Catalunan Pequeño of the city. He allegedly threatened and intimidated her with his firearm.

After receiving the report, the officers responded to the area and arrested the man, identified as Harold Tampos, aged 24 of Catalunan Pequeño.

Recovered from Tampos was a caliber .38 revolver with four pieces of live ammunition. When asked for a firearm permit, he failed to present any.

As per the report, chief of Talomo Police Station Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Lao said that Tampos will face gun charges for Republic Act No. 10591 and Republic Act No. 9262, also known as the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Law.

Lao further reminded men not to take advantage of women’s vulnerability by using violence to intimidate them as these are surely untolerable.

“Women are born to be loved, respected, like on how we adore our mothers. All acts of violence against women, whether intentional or not, will not be tolerated and the PNP (Philippine National Police) will continue to hold those responsible for this type of behavior accountable for their actions,”
