Real Life Chun-Li, A Chinese Doctor Helping to Fight Coronavirus
A Chinese doctor who is also a bodybuilder becomes the real life chun-li from the famous anime Street Fighter to help to treat coronavirus.
In just over a little over two days, the death toll for the new coronavirus that started in Wuhan, China had reached 361. At least 16,600 cases of the virus had been confirmed.
Meanwhile, Yuan Herong, the real-life Chun Li character from the Street Fighter game is a bodybuilder who works as a frontline doctor to fight the spreading of the novel coronavirus in China now. Yuan became popular on social media when she posted herself in a Chun Li cosplay costume.
Yuan, the muscular doctor from Shandong Province, China, shared her intentions in helping to fight the epidemic on Instagram. “I’m a doctor,” she recently wrote, noting that she “must [be] on the front lines” to make a difference.
She also updated the latest cases on her Instagram “171 cases of new pneumonia were cured and 15238 suspected cases were found,” she said. “The healers are all treated through traditional Chinese medicine and other symptomatic treatment. We will try our best to do a good job in prevention and treatment.”
In another post, she wrote that she stays fit to keep herself safe from infection. “In order to prevent infection after work, I still insist on fitness at home. Use cabbage as a dumbbell,” she jokingly said.
Herong’s positive attitude is a welcome breath of fresh air amid the growing panic toward the outbreak currently spreading on social media.
