Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire, called off his search for a life partner
Japanese Billionaire Yusaku Maezawa announced that he will no longer continue his search for a life partner who will fly with him to the moon.
Maezawa is the founder of Zozotown, Japan’s largest online fashion mall. He is considered as the 22nd richest Japanese in the world with a net worth of 1.9 billion US dollars, based on the information from Forbes.
Last January 12, the wealthy man announced through her Twitter account that he is searching for a woman that will spend her life with him and will journey with him to the moon. The trip to the moon is supposed to happen in 2023 aboard the Starship, a spacecraft owned by acclaimed engineer and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, based on the article from PEP.
This will be documented through a project that will be launched on the Japanese video streaming website AbemaTV. Full Moon Lovers is supposed to be the title of the project.
However, the Japanese billionaire decided to cancel his search after the number of applicants online reached 27,722. With this, Yusaku Maezawa apologized.
“Due to personal reasons, I have informed AbemaTV yesterday with my decision to no longer participate in the matchmaking documentary, hence requested for the cancellation of the show,” he said. Here is the rest of his statement on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Maezawa is apparently will not junk his dream to go to the moon. He and Musk launched the Dear Moon Project in October last year. The wealthy Japanese invited eight artists—painter, photographer, musician, dancer, film director, sculptor, novelist, and architect, based on the article.
These artists are asked to make art pieces that will depict their one-week stay on the moon in 2023.
