Indonesia Offers Reward to Whom Can Remove Tire on Crocodile’s Neck
A province in Indonesia offers a reward to anyone brave enough to free an enormous wild crocodile from a motorcycle tire and removes it.
For how many years the wildlife was seen swimming on the Palu River in Central Sulawei, Indonesia, with a motorcycle tire on its neck. An Indonesian conservation agency official offered a reward for removing the tire to save the crocodile from destruction.
According to the article of CNN, the 13-foot (4-meter) crocodile has been carrying the tire since 2016. Possibly a Siamese crocodile that according to the International Union of Conservation, is critically endangered.
“A reward will be given to anyone who can release the hapless reptile,” said Hasmuni Hasmar, head of the Central Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Office, without specifying the details on the rewards offered.
There have also been attempts to remove the alligator’s neck. In 2018 an “animal whisperer” tried to remove the alligator choking wheel but it was unsuccessful.
In the same year, the conservation agency also tried to catch the crocodile by a crocodile trap with a meat bait, but they also failed. Following videos spreading that it appears that the crocodile was having difficulty breathing.
According to Hasmuni Hasmar, in his own pocket comes the reward. He also made it clear that the offer is not for amateur hunters but for people who are already skilled in wildlife rescue.
