According to ABS-CBN News, the owner of the cornfields was the one who discovered the fatality identified as Jonalyn Fabro. aged 40 and a resident of Barangay Bigbiga, Santiago of the said province.

Near her corpse is a huge rock drenched in blood which is possibly used as the weapon to bash her head.

Police Captain Regin Cabico, chief of Santa Maria Police Station, said that the victim was also reportedly raped but it has yet to confirm in the medical exam results and from the scene of the crime operatives (SOCO).

“May possibility pero hinihintay pa natin ‘yung resulta ng mga medical exam at sa SOCO,”

Fabro’s family could not believe to the victim’s demise. Marilou Ecraeta, her mother, said that the only motive of the crime she knew is robbery since her cellphone and jewelry could not be found.

“Kawawa ang anak ko, ninakawan at pinatay pa siya,”

Based on the report, Ecrela said that her daughter left on Friday night and did not tell her where she went.

Police investigations show, however, that the fatality went to a funeral to gamble.

“Frequently siya na uma-attend sa mga lamayan at engaged sa sugal na isa sa aming tinignang anggulo,”

The identity of the assailant is yet to be known. Fabro’s family cried for justice. Fabro and her two daughters were left by her husband who worked abroad.
