A portion of Skyway Stage 3 Collapses Amid Raging Fire in Pandacan, Manila
Pandacan, Manila- a portion of the skyway stage 3 collapses amid the raging fire in the warehouse of the San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation.
The Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) reported that the blaze, which reached Tasked Force Bravo, gutted the warehouse of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) along Tomas Claudio street around 11:00 a.m.
According to the report of ABS-CBN News, The elevated highway, which is still under construction, collapsed because of the fire, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said.
“It’s a portion of Skyway Stage 3 parapet that was damaged. Stage 3 is still under construction and therefore, not operational. We are still assessing the extent of damage,” said Skyway Corporate Communications head Marlene Ochoa in a statement.
The Skyway Stage 3 project, which stretches 18.68 kilometers, was meant to shorten travel time between northern and southern portions of National Capital Region. From Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati and goes through San Juan, Manila, and Quezon City all the way to the North Luzon Expressway.
